EASTMAN 2012 JOHN PISANO JP680 CARVED ARCHTOP

ALL CARVED SOLID PREMIUM WOODS - GUITARS 'N JAZZ

Eastman

JOHN PISANO JP680

New 2012 John Pisano #12566 (actual photos) carved solid Spruce top with carved solid Mahogany Neck, Back and sides 16" F-hole Archtop combines an 50's ES 175 type sound with the punch, life, and clarity that only a carved top archtop can produce! Check out the review in "Just Jazz Guitar magazine" on page 161 for this Eastman Archtop - " Smoother under the fingers, acoustic volume and bass to treble balance that will put many flattops to shame, the best value that I have ever had, and so well that it will out live the reviewer"
The John Pisano Signature archtop guitar Model 680 was just introduced in 2007 and features a 16" body constructed from Mahogany and select spruce. Body depth is a very comfortable 2 3/4". The 3-piece mahogany neck is carved to John’s demanding specifications. The unique headstock, pickguard, volume, tone controls, and adjustable tension tailpiece are constructed of ebony, highlighted with highly figured exotic woods. The wood binding, and magnet truss rod cover to match the binding, gold plated Schaller tuners with ebony buttons, and adjustable ebony bridge complete the distinctive package. One look at the label on the inside of Eastman Guitars' John Pisano signature model guitar says it all: The words "Handmade to my specifications" appear above Pisano’s signature. Pisano has had a hand in every step of the guitar’s design. With a suggested retail price of $2695, the John Pisano signature model guitar is a fine crafted instrument that has the artistic integrity of its namesake written all over it.
Pisano gives credit to his friend Ted Mayer for helping with the guitar’s design. Mayer’s a guitarist, artist, computer enthusiast and a designer who also holds an engineering degree. "Without him there'd be no John Pisano model" Pisano said. "We spent a lot of time analyzing and comparing different aspects of different instruments, trying to get things that I thought were good."
The result is a tasteful-looking guitar that focuses on integrating and retaining a solid acoustic sound even when amplified. Its tone is warm and punchy, with lots of bass register clarity – perfect for comping chords and walking bass lines. According to Pisano, much thought and experimentation went into the decision-making process regarding the guitar’s pickup, a custom-designed Kent Armstrong humbucker. I wanted to have a built-in pickup," Pisano said. "the sound that I’m looking for is more of an acoustic sound but still electric," he said, recalling the sound of the 1930s-era Gibson electric guitar that Charlie Christian played.
"I had one for a long time," he said. "The quality of it was like a clarity on the bass notes that you can’t seem to get with more modern pickups. You want to look at it as if you can visualize hearing the space between the notes in lower strings; it cuts out a lot of distortion and overtones pleasing flow of ebony from end to end. The guitar is light-weight and extremely comfortable to play, another design aspect that Pisano wanted. "Playing some of the other Eastman 16-inch guitars, the body felt more comfortable," Pisano said. "One thing that I like about the Eastman especially is the weight. I hate to pick up a guitar that weights you down." Pisano’s signature is inlaid at the 19th fret. The ebony part of the tailpiece features an inlaid frog design, which alludes to Pisano’s lifelong interest in the amphibians. "I've always been a frog collector. When I was a kid, I used to catch frogs and I had frogs around in terrariums. I have a pond at my house with bullfrogs in it."
The JP680 IS ONE OF EASTMANS BEST JAZZ GUITARS!

These guitars feature Ebony fingerboards -

This is a Eastman AR 805 CE model guitar .. I have 3 other Eastmans and this is very much like the 810 model I have .. The guitar has some minor finish imperfections from use , ( every Eastman has finish issues, because the finish is so thin for tonal quality of the hand carved tops ) but the guitar looks good , plays , and functions perfectly .. This features an adjustable pole piece Kent Armstrong side mount pickup with pickguard volume and tone control ... Flame Maple back Maple sides and Spruce top ... 1 3/4" nut width .. 25" scale length .. Ebony fingerboard .. Ebony bridge ... The guitar plays with as low an action as you would desire .. I found this to be a great comping axe as well as a sweet fingerstyle inst. , and it will jump to life when flatpicked .. Nice all around Jazz guitar with a 16" bout so it's very easy to handle .. The body depth is 3 1/4" and touts Gotoh tuners for rock solid tuning .. The intonation is right on with singing voicing as you run the neck .. As a bonus , this has a great acoustic tone even using the round wound electric strings it calls for ... The custom Eastman Fiberglass case is included and it has no issues other than a few scuffs .. The case is built like a tank . .. I'm offering free shipping to the lower 48 United States ONLY ...
Eastman Ar 805 Ce Archtop With Custom Eastman Fiberglass Case is a post from: Eastman Guitar
